Cleaning and treatment of terracotta floor in solarium with mold problems in several areas

Image
In this work we find a fairly large solarium with a reddish-hued terracotta floor that had never been treated before and which had normally been cleaned using a pressurized water machine. Needless to say, we reiterate our recommendation to avoid at all costs the use of this type of pressurized water machines for cleaning terracotta floors, as they can deteriorate the surface of the slab, until it turns into dust. Returning to this work, the main problem that had the terracotta floor was the areas where it had embedded mold. Here we show you some photos of the initial state of the mud floor of the solarium : After performing the process of elimination of moldy areas and cleaning the rest of the terracotta floor of the solarium, we wait a few days for the soil to dry completely, to return and apply protective treatment for outdoor terracotta floors . In this case the client chose the wet effect finish that enhances the natural coloring of the terracotta slab intensi...

TERRACOTTA FLOOR IN BATH WITH SALITER BY FLOODING OF PIPE BREAK

Image
On this occasion we find a job that is usual when there is a broken pipe and we have a terracotta floor with closed pores for having applied some kind of protective treatment. In these cases it happens that the humidity of the interior when trying to evaporate, is with the closed pore of the slab of mud and therefore not being able to evaporate is just below forming a white spot of saltpeter that we can not access and that Of course it gives a horrible appearance to the mud floor. It is very important to know that before proceeding to restore the mud floor, the leakage of water must have been repaired; otherwise the saltpeter would appear again soon. Here you can see the initial state that we are : The first step that we have to do in these cases is to proceed to stripping to eliminate the previous treatment of the terracotta floor and therefore be able to open the pore of the slab and in this way proceed then to the eradication of the mold and saltpeter that h...

CLEANING WORK AND TREATMENT OF MECHANICAL TERRACOTA FLOOR INSIDE HOUSING

Image
On this occasion we find a mechanical type terracotta floor . Only one of the rooms had been placed completely new, and in the rest the terracota had been placed much longer and had problems of some scratches and stains embedded; in addition to the normal wear and tear of the old treatment. The floors of mechanical terracotta are pavements that unlike the manual mud, these are manufactured using a hydraulic press that compacts the slab and makes it less thick, with a more regular surface than an artisan clay slab. The finish is very similar to that of a porcelain tile taking into account that the difference is that it is still terracotta and therefore retaining the differentiating character that a terracotta tile has on a porcelain tile. Despite being much more compact slabs than artisan clay, they still have a high degree of porosity, which is very susceptible to absorb stains, so it is essential to proceed with the application of a protective treatment to waterproof them . WORK OF RECOVERY OF HALL COVERED WITH HANDMADE TERRACOTTA FLOOR

Image
On this occasion we find a patio inside a detached house with a terracotta floor and glazed tile studs, where the terracotta tiles were stained with mold and verdigris especially in the darkest areas. Also climbing a step there was a perimeter of covered area around the patio, whose main problem was the wear that had suffered the previous treatment; and even the client had changed some very deteriorated tiles for completely new ones. These are some photos of the initial state prior to beginning the work : The work process consisted in the first place to eradicate the problem of mold and verdigris of the patio area and to the pickling of the covered area to eliminate the remains of the old deteriorated treatment. Once the mold and verdin of the patio have been eliminated; and the old treatment of the covered area we proceeded to the cleaning and rinsing of the terracotta floor to leave it ready to dry and then apply protective treatment. State afte...
