EXTERIOR TERRACOTTA FLOOR WITH STRONG PROBLEM RUST

This client called us to go and see the terracotta floor of his house that presented an important problem of a large number of areas with a lot of embedded scum.

This problem occurs especially in areas facing north where, because they are very dark areas and where moisture accumulates in winter, scum find the ideal place to thrive and on a terracotta floor without any protective treatment, they find a guest with porous surface where to be able to root strongly and in depth.

The client had tried for a long time to remove the scum using pressurized water machines, managing to remove much of the surface but not being able to penetrate internal layers of the slab.

In addition, this method of using pressurized machines is extremely damaging to mud floors; since these machines work at important pressure bars that damage the surface of terracotta floor and gradually wear it down until the terracotta slab starts to granulate and to get rid little by little and in many cases becoming irrecoverable due to its enormous wear and forcing the client to have to change the floor with the consequent cost of work that would entail.

INITIAL STATE

Fortunately, in this case we took the work on time and first of all proceeded to the elimination phase of the scum, through products specifically designed to penetrate internal layers of the terracotta floor and eliminate said scum from the inside to the outside. All this also with the use of specific machinery such as rotary and vacuum cleaners to remove the waste.

Once the verdigris was eliminated, after several passes repeating the process described above, we proceeded to the final rinse to eliminate any remaining salt from the terracotta soil.

ESTADO DESPUÉS DE LA LIMPIEZA DE VERDIN Y LA FASE DE LIMPIEZA

After a week of waiting we returned once the soil was completely dry, for the application of protective treatment for exterior terracotta floors with a wet effect finish according to the client's choice. This type of treatment waterproofs the slab between 80-90%, closing the pore in a way that prevents the verdín from taking root inside the slab and in this way when it reappears, it is easy to clean.

On the outside it is necessary that the terracotta floor has a degree of transpiration so that the humidities that penetrate through the through the subsoil, can evaporate.

Once the treatment is applied, after 24 hours of drying the soil is ready to be used in a normal way and being able to observe not only the functional effect of the treatment (waterproofing and protection); if not also the aesthetic result.

FINAL RESULT OBTAINED AFTER APPLICATION OF TREATMENT
